As Principal Environmental Geologist and Director of Atma Environmental, Glenn has over 29 years direct experience in environmental consulting in Melbourne ranging from potable water well installations to underground storage tank cleanups to environmental screening of large corporate land portfolios. Glenn has overseen the operations and management of thousands of contaminated land assessment, remediation, and other projects since inception of the company in Australia in 1996.
Rory McPhillips, B.Sc. (Hons.) (Environmental Science)
Operations Manager | Director
In his role as Operations Manager for Atma Environmental, Rory plays a hands-on role in the planning and supervision of Atma Environmental’s projects. His responsibilities extend to completion of internal peer reviews, report checking, business development and training. He is an enthusiastic about professional development and is constantly upgrading his knowledge base. He also brings geotechnical and geophysical experience to the table, having experience in downhole methods and an assortment of drilling methods.
Rory is exposed in some form to all of our projects and has developed expertise in all aspects of contaminated land assessment and management including: site historical reviews, soil and groundwater contamination assessments, waste hazard categorisation, remedial projects, land fill gas risk assessments, site remediation projects, environmental audits, etc. His broad understanding of relevant legislative requirements and industry guidance enables him to achieve the best outcome for the client. Rory is known for his thorough yet pragmatic approach to environmental site assessment and aspects of the most complex projects.
Rory is a member of the Australasian Contaminated Land Consultants Association (ALGA), the Australian Remediation Industry Cluster (ARIC) and a corporate member of the Australian Contaminated Land Consultants Association (ACLCA).
Kane Church, B.App.Sc. (Hons.) (Geol.)
Senior Environmental Consultant | Director
Kane graduated from the University of Ballarat in 2004 where he was awarded a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exploration and Geology) Degree. Kane’s went on to employment with the Department of Primary Industries - duties consisting of: surface water monitoring, groundwater monitoring/hydrogeology and report writing & mapping. He later joined Atma Environmental in 2005 as a Jr. Environmental Consultant reporting to our Hydro geologist. An outstanding professional, Kane was project managing serious programs when he left a few years later for some travel and a year on the Environmental Auditing Team of a major consulting organisation. Re-joining Atma Environmental in 2009, Kane contributes as one of our highly-qualified Senior Environmental Project Managers.
Jared Hammett, B.Sc. (Hons.)
Senior Environmental Consultant & Project Manager
Jared has worked as an Environmental Scientist since 1996, gaining a broad experience in many projects throughout Victoria and interstate. Initially he was with Ground Science P/L, where his role was to research and develop the firm’s environmental consulting services. Between 2006 and 2008, Jared was with Golder Associates managing the day to day fieldwork operations of a large contaminated land project. On returning to Ground Science in 2009, Jared implemented a diverse range of environmental services becoming their Environmental Team Leader and overseeing the environmental department, liaising with Regulatory Authorities, training new staff and growing that aspect of the business. Jared joined Atma environmental in 2015 contributing his years of experience to the team by managing full gamut of contaminated land and groundwater project
Helena Woolums, B. Sc. (Phys. Geog.)
Helena graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with Distinction in 2010; then came to the University of Melbourne as an exchange student to complete further studies and a Research Project on nitrification. Prior to joining the Atma Environmental Team in 2012 she worked with the leading Melbourne-based Soil Scientist Robert Van de Graff, undertaking land capability studies and other soil research projects. Helena contributes to Atma Environmental’s contaminated land management skill base with her excellent report writing and soil science background.
